Inasmuch as President Barack Obama has stated in 2009, while on a trip to a Muslim nation, that the United States of America is not a Christian nation but a secular nation, we the undersigned believers in Jesus Christ and non-believing friends of Christianity are motivated to respectfully respond to our head-of-state. Before our God, before our nation and before the world:
We declare the dependence of America upon the grace and mercies of Almighty God, upon the blood sacrifice of His only Son as the one way to reconciliation with the Father and upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God. America was founded upon, remains dependent upon, and is profoundly influenced by Judeo-Christian values and ideals. As duly noted in the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the rights of man are endowed by our Creator and not by any government.
Further, as many as three-quarters of the citizenship of the United States of America profess to be of the Christian religion with respect for others of all religions and beliefs. The notion that America is a secular nation, refusing the influence of Judeo-Christian scripture and religion, is refuted by the government’s officers’ own consistent calling upon the precepts and divine care of our Creator in prayers, in policy and judicial decisions, and in the begged invocation of God’s blessings upon our nation in the phrase, “May God bless America”.
Based on these truths, we the undersigned citizens of this great nation, do assert that the United States of America is a Christian nation, founded upon and dependent upon Judeo-Christian truths for its very health and existence. We respectfully and firmly, with the delivery of these petitions, do call upon President Barack Obama and the Congress of the United States of America to acknowledge the very same by the president’s renouncing his previous conviction of secularism and proclaiming before the world that America is a Christian nation, and by the reading of this proclamation into the Congressional Record.
